Call for comments: Study on Human Rights and Labour Rights’ Risk Mapping in the Global Natural Rubber Value Chains
The Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), through a process led by the Strategy and Objectives Working Group, has identified goals with a strong focus on developing a framework that supports and sustains responsible supply chains. Important among the information needed to achieve these outcomes is a better understanding of the social risks, including but not limited to Human Rights and Labour Rights, in the global natural rubber value chains.
GPSNR and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) jointly funded a study prepared by independent consultants James Griffiths & Associates Sàrl. GPSNR welcomes any comments from stakeholders on the study in order to further improve upon this work in the future.
The study is a result of a collaborative effort by GPSNR members, the Secretariat and other rubber sector stakeholders. While it will inform GPSNR work, it does not necessarily represent the views of every member of GPSNR, nor does it mean that every member of GPSNR endorses every concept, approach or conclusion described herein. It is noted that there were differences of views from GPSNR members on certain sections of the study, particularly the outcomes related to child labour. GPSNR also acknowledges the complexity surrounding issues related to the environment and will be exploring these in a separate study.
The Social Risks Study document will be open for comments until 24 July 2020.
Please submit any comments to GPSNR Director Stefano Savi (firstname.lastname@example.org).
